(SEARDF)
Give a man a fish and you feed
him for a day.
Teach him how
to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.

Tzu, Chinese Philosopher, 570 - 490 BC)
History
SEARDF, Inc. was incorporated May 2002 to assist TODA (Training and
Occupation for the Disabled Association) in building an ECO-Village near Phnom
Penh, Cambodia. The project’s aim was to build a village for approximately 300
families with disabled head of household, of which many were women. The goal was
to make the village self sufficient, sustainable, and reproducible. The village
was to use the Integrated Bio-Systems Concept as a model. The Integrated
Bio-Systems Concept is characterized by the avoidance of Genetically Modified
Organisms (GMO), reduction or elimination of chemical fertilizers, pesticides,
and herbicides, and efficient use of naturally occurring organisms to the
recycling of plant and animal wastes. - Unfortunate, the village never became a
reality. To create such a village and to implement the three phases, donors/sponsors were
needed. Without generous public support nothing came about. The land was sold
again and the handicapped lost this chance of improving their livelihoods.
In 2005, SEARDF, Inc. identified a new organization: the Cambodia Renewable Energy and Sustainable Agriculture and
Rural Development Co. Ltd. (CRESARD), located in the Sdao Commune, Ratanak Mondul District,
Battambang Province, Cambodia. CRESARD operates as a non-profit organization
and initiates
concepts in appropriate and affordable renewable energy and
sustainable agriculture, employing the
poor and handicapped. CRESARD was established under the authority of the Kingdom of
Cambodian law in force, and incorporated January 3, 2005. As a
limited company CREASARD operates according to the voluntary
common agreement put into effect and governs all operations in connection to the
operations of the organization and has the support of the provincial governor,
Mr. Kep Pheng Ly, of Battambang Province.
In 2007 SEARDF, Inc. was classified as a public charity under the Code: 170(b)
(1) (A) (vi) with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as of March 2007. All
donations are fully tax deductible. |
